Danielle joined the Literacy Volunteers of Greater Saco-Biddeford as a board member in 2009 to help raise awareness about the low literacy rates among adults in the US. The group started organizing events and fundraisers to help sustain the tutoring services and materials provided to learners. Danielle was charged with designing and writing the marketing materials for our events. Additionally, she was asked to complete the Easy-to-Read Voter Guide for election years in Maine.
This is a small sample of the different materials she created over the four years of working with the Literacy Volunteers. The real art was the way our small non-profit board came together to work for the greater good.
On average, the organization sustained 52 working pairs of tutors and students.
Being able to work with a small, but mighty, group of women was a great experience.
